Abstract
It is important for us to know and understand how self-acceptance and self-love influence our daily lives, which are also related to the social realities in society. This understanding can help individuals live authentically and happily in their own way. Although many studies have been conducted on the film Imperfect, none have yet explored the meaning of self-acceptance and self-love in the film Imperfect using Peirce's semiotic analysis. This research aims to uncover the meanings of the messages of self-acceptance and self-love in the film Imperfect: Career, Love, and Scales. The study identifies the factors that can shape and strengthen self-acceptance and self-love in individuals. This research employs Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis to dissect the meanings of the messages of self-acceptance and self-love presented in the film Imperfect, both verbally and non-verbally. The results of this study show that the meanings of the messages of self-acceptance and self-love involve having strong social support and a positive environment, which play crucial roles in building and reinforcing an individual's self-acceptance and self-love. Social support and a positive environment are the strongest factors in helping individuals cope with social pressures and the diversity of beauty standards. These findings highlight that having good social support and a positive environment can significantly influence one's mental and emotional development, helping them to grow and achieve their desired goals.
