Abstract

France realizes that it has cultural values that are very attractive to the world and is a form of French strength in highlighting the influence of cultural values around the world. From the advantages possessed by France, France utilizes its advantages by expanding its cultural values to reach more people around the world and to promote its country. The effort made by France is to carry out diplomatic activities by establishing cultural and language centers in various countries known as Institute Francaise (IF). Including in Indonesia, France established an Institute francaise called Institute Francaise D'indonesie with the aim of promoting its culture. This research is limited to the cultural activities carried out by Institute Francaise D'indonesie. In its implementation, this public diplomacy activity has its own challenges on how to carry out public diplomacy in Indonesia with a different culture and also the Covid 19 situation that had hit a few years ago. This research uses Descriptive Qualitative research methods that will describe the situation according to field facts. The theory used is public diplomacy which is also reviewed through multitrack diplomacy. This research then finds the role of multi-track diplomacy in carrying out public diplomacy activities carried out by France through Institut Francaise d’Indonesie.
