Abstract
In family life, there will be a relationship of social penetration between parents and children. The parents' preoccupation with the child makes the parents far from the child, who should be expected to spend time on the child, so that it will have an impact on the child's self-disclosure. This self-disclosure or self-disclosure can also occur when relationships are intimate and with this self-disclosure a person can expand their relationships, whether within the family or in the surrounding community. This research seeks to see the influence of relationship development on increasing self-disclosure in children and parents. The research method used was quantitative with an explanatory approach carried out on children and parents who worked in the local government sector of Bangka Regency. The sample used was 97 people with predetermined criteria. This research uses social penetration theory with the data collection technique is a questionnaire. The research results obtained were that there was an influence between variable X and variable Y of 9.9% and the remaining 90.1% was influenced by other factors outside the relationship between parents and children. The results of this research have also proven that social penetration theory can improve the development of dynamic relationships thereby increasing children's openness to their parents. This research is expected to use more concrete and effective methods, concepts and data collection techniques.
