Prostaglandin (PG) F2 – alpha, a hormone that causes uterine muscle contractions to become stronger and clog blood vessels. Increased levels of the hormone prostaglandin caused by the production of body fat. Purpose: This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between body mass index and the incidence of dysmenorrhea in junior high and high school students. Method: Cross sectional research method and correlative quantitative design used in this study. A total of 95 students from Hasmi Islamic Middle School and High School became the research sample. The Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) in the questionnaire is one of the measuring parameters used to assess dysmenorrhea pain, while BMI is assessed by measuring body weight and height. Results: The incidence of dysmenorrhea and body mass index did not correlate significantly with the results of p = 0.114 with the majority of normal body mass index (68.4%) and moderate levels of dysmenorrheal pain (37.9%). Conclusion: there is no significant relationship between body mass index and the incidence of dysmenorrhea
