Abstract
Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem in children characterised by stunted growth. Exclusive breastfeeding, which is breastfeeding without any other food or drink, has been shown to have great benefits in preventing stunting in children. Maternal occupation can affect children's health and development through various mechanisms. This study aims to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and maternal employment status with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 2-5 years in Bojongsari Lama Village, Depok City. The research design used was cross-sectional. The sample in this study amounted to 155 toddlers obtained by stratified sampling. The study was conducted from May to June 2023. Data collection was done through height measurement and questionnaires. Data analysis was done with chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between breastfeeding history with a p value = 0.002, but there was no significant relationship between maternal employment status and the incidence of stunting. From this study, it is hoped that the government, especially health workers, can actively tackle the incidence of stunting in toddlers. In addition, it is expected that the community, especially mothers, can apply a balanced nutritional diet for toddlers.
