Abstract

Swearing for the need for interaction is increasing along with the changes and developments of the times. Social media is a liaison for the use of swear words among netizens. The purpose of this study is to find out, understand and measure how much influence the exposure to swearing has on social media content, especially in the aspect of linguistic imitation, considering the effects of online schools that force the child to hold gadgets and access social media applications on gadgets with regular intensity. This research method uses explanative quantitative methods through survey techniques with purposive sampling techniques. The results of the correlation test between the variables of exposure to swear words on social media and language imitation behavior showed a number of 0.397. The results of hypothesis testing show H1 that there is an effect of exposure to swear words on social media on language imitation behavior. The conclusion shows that the influence of swearing speech on social media contributes 16.2% to language imitation behavior.
