Abstract
This study aims to discuss the process of self-disclosure and message exchange that occurs between users of the Tinder application, especially the millennial generation who are 21-25 years old and have been actively using the application for 1 year. By examining the relationship they went through in the world of online dating, researchers can understand how and what the process of self-disclosure and exchange of messages through the Tinder application using the Self Disclosure stage and also the communication model of The Johari Window Pane. The method used is descriptive qualitative by using primary data sources, namely the results of in-depth interviews between informants and secondary data, namely screenshots of conversations from sources in the Tinder application and their respective relationships. The informant determination technique uses purposive sampling where all the informants must be active users of the Tinder application for 1 year and live in Jakarta. Researchers used semi-structured in-depth interviews in order to dig deeper into the experience of Tinder users, interviews will be conducted directly by being given 16 questions related to their experience using the Tinder application. The final result of this research shows that the informants have different understanding of what is personal to share with other users and what is not personal. Starting from work, place of residence, family, and social media accounts to the place of residence and daily activities, each resource person has openness at different stages. For those who are in a relationship for less than a year, they have the same problem where their Tinder partner has different desires about the relationship and there is no impression of exclusivity felt by the interviewees
