Abstract

A person with a history of hypertension usually has a lower quality of life than a normotensive individual, and one way to assess an individual's observable health advantages is through their quality of life. Knowledge and adherence to therapy are important variables in determining a person's quality of life if they have hypertension. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether there was a correlation between medication awareness and adherence and quality of life in hypertensive patients in the Jati Padang sub-district. This is a cross-sectional observational analytic study. Cluster Sampling was used to collect hypertension patients in the Jati Padang village area. The data are analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. According to the results collected from 125 respondents, good knowledge accounted for 79.2 %, moderate compliance accounted for 60 %, and a high quality of life accounted for 94.4 %. The fisher's test revealed a p value of 0.004 for knowledge and p = 0.016 for medication adherence and quality of life. Based on these two studies, p<0.05, a connection exists between medication knowledge, adherence, and quality of life.
