Abstract

The development of the shoe industry in the current era of globalization is growing rapidly, so that companies in maintaining their business must be able to compete tightly with companies that produce the same product. In order to survive in business competition, the company must consistently maintain product quality. PT. XYZ is an industry that is engaged in the production of shoes. The production quality control system currently used has not used the Quality Control Circle method. This can result in inconsistent shoe production quality. Data from the results of testing the quality of shoes at PT.XYZ in 2020 shows an average below the company's standards. Based on this background, the purpose of this study was to determine the cause of the number of defective products exceeding the company's standard of 2.0%. The method used in this research is the Quality Control Circle method. The results of the analysis obtained by applying Seven Tools to the Quality Control Circle method is known that the type of defect with the highest color/color varies with the number of 3126. Based on the fishbone diagram, it can be seen that the cause of the defect comes from environmental, human, method and machine factors. PT.XYZ can minimize defects by designing improvements that can be proposed by researchers, namely making new standards, improving previous SOPs, providing continuous training to workers, and performing periodic maintenance on machines.
