Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia. One of the efforts to prevent stunting is the appropriate provision of complementary feeding. Maternal knowledge plays an important role in determining appropriate complementary feeding practices, however many mothers knowledge regarding complementary feeding. Objective: To analyze the effect of health education on mothers knowledge of complementary feeding practice in the working area of Puskesmas Pembantu Rawajati I. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group approach. A total of mother of 30 mothers were recruited as study participant. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test for paired groups and the Mann-Whitney test for unpaired groups. Results: This study showed a significant increase in mothers knowledge of complementary feeding, with a p value = 0.014 (<0.05). Conclusion: Health education has a significant effect on improving mothers knowledge of complementary feeding practice in the working area of Puskesmas Pembantu Rawajati I. Recommendation: Health education using animated video is expected to be implemented continuously to improve mothers knowledge
