Abstract
Intellectual intelligence or Intelligence Quotient (IQ) in elementary school–aged children is influenced by various environmental and behavioral factors. Factors such as parenting style, nutritional status, and physical activity play important roles in supporting children’s cognitive development. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between parenting style, nutritional status, and physical activity and the level of intellectual intelligence among female students at SDN 04 Bojongsari, Depok City. Methods: This was a quantitative analytic study using a cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 31 female students aged 9–12 years selected using a total sampling technique. Intelligence level was measured using the Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT), nutritional status was assessed based on Body Mass Index for Age (BMI-for-age), while parenting style and physical activity were collected using questionnaires. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-square test and Fisher’s Exact Test. Results: The results showed that most respondents experienced democratic parenting (61.3%), had normal nutritional status (77.4%), and engaged in good levels of physical activity (51.6%). Most students had a low level of intellectual intelligence (64.5%). Bivariate analysis showed significant relationships between parenting style (p = 0.001), nutritional status (p = 0.033), and physical activity (p = 0.000) with the level of intellectual intelligence. Conclusion: Parents and schools need to play an active role in supporting children’s intellectual development by implementing democratic parenting, ensuring balanced nutrition, and promoting regular physical activity to optimize children’s cognitive development.
