Abstract
This study aims to analyze the role of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Central Jakarta in monitoring and regulating the installation of Campaign Props (Alat Peraga Kampanye/APK) in public spaces during the 2024 General Election. In the democratic process, campaign tools are vital for political communication, but their misuse may harm urban aesthetics and violate spatial regulations. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, applying Henry Lefebvre’s Theory of the Production of Space, which includes four aspects: the production of space, the use of space, the right to space, and the exclusion from space. The findings indicate that Bawaslu Central Jakarta has actively conducted supervision and enforcement by coordinating with Satpol PP, Kesbangpol, and district-level Panwascam. Thousands of APKs violating campaign regulations such as those installed on sidewalks, pedestrian bridges, places of worship, and government facilities were removed. However, challenges persist, including limited human resources and low compliance from candidates and political parties. This study concludes that Bawaslu Central Jakarta plays a strategic role in safeguarding public spaces and ensuring a democratic electoral process, yet requires improvement in public education, institutional coordination, and law enforcement. The research contributes to political science, particularly in the areas of electoral supervision and democratic urban space governance.
