Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Instagram in the process of identity exploration and formation, using the account @alifaadelia as a case study. Social media has become an interactive space where individuals, especially youth, express and negotiate their identities publicly. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with five purposively selected active followers of @alifaadelia, supported by content observation focusing on visuals, captions, and conveyed messages. The findings show that @alifaadelia significantly influences followers' self-identity formation. Alifa is perceived as a representation of the modern young woman— confident, stylish, and positive. Her consistent content encourages followers to become more appearance-conscious, build self-confidence, and shape their self image in line with prevailing social values. Instagram functions beyond a photo sharing platform; it serves as a social space where individuals seek, discover, and construct their identities through digital representations offered by influencers.
