Abstract
Musicians as creators often experience injustice in the form of copyright violations, both morally and economically, especially amid the dominance of the digital music industry. This situation highlights the urgent need for collective efforts to gain legal recognition and protection. One of the organizations actively fighting for musicians' rights is the Federasi Serikat Musisi Indonesia (FESMI). FESMI serves as a collective platform for musicians to advocate for copyright recognition through various forms of advocacy and organizational consolidation. This research aims to examine how FESMI mobilizes its resources in the struggle for music copyright as a form of recognition politics toward the musician profession in Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and literature studies. The data were analyzed using Axel Honneth's Politics of Recognition theory and Resource Mobilization theory. The findings show that FESMI has succeeded in mobilizing moral, cultural, organizational, human, and material to strengthen musicians' bargaining power and build collective solidarity to push for fairer and more inclusive policy changes. FESMI ability to organize musicians, build advocacy networks, and utilize public space positions it as a key actors in the fight for music copyright recognition in Indonesia. This movement reflects that copyright is not only a matter of legal protection but also of social and political recognition of musicians as legitimate subjects in the creative industry.
