Abstract
Complementary feeding is one of the direct factors affecting children's nutritional status. Adequate knowledge about infant and young child feeding (IYCF) is necessary to ensure proper complementary feeding. Effective education can be delivered through various media, including animated video and pocket book. This study aims to determine the effect of IYCF education with animated video and pocket book and the difference in the effectiveness of the two media on IYCF knowledge in mothers or caregivers with children aged 6-24 months in Sawangan Baru Depok City. This study used a quasi-experimental design with 2 intervention groups (33 mothers or caregivers for each group) selected through stratified random sampling method. The research instrument was an IYCF knowledge questionnaire and the data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test, Wilcoxon, and the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that education using animated video and pocket book had a significant effect on increasing respondents' knowledge (p = 0.000). However, there was no difference in effectiveness between the two educational media (p = 0.938). It can be concluded that both animated video and pocket book are effective for increasing IYCF knowledge among mothers or caregivers with children aged 6-24 months in Sawangan Baru Depok City.
