Abstract
The phenomenon of a large number of university graduates remaining unemployed within 3 to 6 months after graduation, along with a lack of work experience and skills, poses challenges for fresh graduates in securing employment. The aim of this study is to measure the extent to which communication effectiveness on the social media platform LinkedIn influences the information needs of fresh graduates regarding job vacancies, by analyzing the theory of communication effectiveness. This theory emphasizes that communication is considered effective when the message delivered is understood, accepted, and elicits an appropriate response from the recipient. This research uses a quantitative explanatory approach, with a population size of 12,002,740. A sample of 205 respondents was selected using the Taro Yamane formula with a 7% margin of error. Primary data was collected by distributing questionnaires to fresh graduates who are active LinkedIn users. The results of the study indicate that the dimensions of message content and message format have a fairly significant influence on information needs, while the timeliness dimension has the least influence. The hypothesis testing results show that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, meaning there is a significant influence between communication effectiveness on LinkedIn and the information needs of fresh graduates regarding job vacancies. The results of the simple linear regression analysis indicate a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which shows that the independent variable has an influence on the dependent variable. In addition, the coefficient of determination test shows that the effectiveness of LinkedIn contributes 36.4% to meeting the job vacancy information needs, while the remaining 63.6% is influenced by external factors not examined in this study.
