Abstract
This study aims to determine the meaning of friendship contained in the films "Green Book" and "Ali and Ratu-Ratu Queens" using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory. The research method used is descriptive qualitative using primary and secondary data sources. This research was conducted based on interpretation. Data related to the primary data sources (film, text, images, and the meaning of friendship in the films "Green Book" and " Ali and Ratu-Ratu Queens "). The films "Green Book" and " Ali and Ratu-Ratu Queens " share similar themes. These issues relate to friendships. Friendships are inherently conflict-ridden and joyous. If there is no balance between conflict and joy in a friendship, it is certain to die. However, a friendship will endure until the end of life. This relationship transcends wealth, power, fame, age, gender, or ethnicity. This goes through heart and sacrifice, which is inseparable from affection, trust, responsibility, and self-disclosure. The concepts of friendship include affection, trust, responsibility, and the environment. In the concept of friendship, affection implies caring, attention, and efforts to foster a sense of pleasure. In the concept of friendship, trust refers to a sense of comfort and keeping secrets within a friendship. The concept of friendship, responsibility, is a duty and trust given by a friend. And the concept of friendship, self-disclosure, relates to the secrets of life, whether about oneself or others.
