Abstract
Sectio caesarea is a method of childbirth that is performed through a surgical procedure by making an incision in the abdominal wall and uterus. Pain is one of the main problems that occurs in mothers after caesarean section in various countries. One of the non-pharmacological interventions that can be used to reduce pain in mothers after caesarean section is the effleurage massage technique. Effleurage massage is a massage method used to accelerate the pain recovery process through hand touch that provides a relaxing effect. The purpose of this final scientific paper is to apply evidence-based nursing through the provision of effleurage massage in nursing care practices for mothers after caesarean section to reduce pain levels. This study involved two patients, namely a managed patient with a medical diagnosis of oligohydramnios who complained of pain with an Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) scale of 7, and a resume patient with an indication of impending eclampsia who experienced pain on an NRS scale of 6. After non-pharmacological intervention in the form of effleurage massage for three days, there was a decrease in pain intensity to mild, with the pain scale on the third day being at 3 for both patients. Based on these results, it can be concluded that effleurage massage has an effect on reducing pain levels in mothers after Sectio caesarea. This technique is recommended to be used as an alternative non-pharmacological pain management for post-CS mothers who experience pain complaints.
