Abstract
Chemotherapy is one of the main treatment modalities for breast cancer but often causes side effects such as nausea and vomiting, which can interfere with patient comfort and adherence to therapy. One effective non-pharmacological intervention to manage these symptoms is Swedish Foot Massage. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Swedish Foot Massage in reducing nausea and vomiting in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in the Oncology Ward of RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. The research employed a nursing care approach encompassing assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The intervention was administered in three sessions (before, during, and after chemotherapy), each lasting 20 minutes. Nausea and vomiting were measured using the RINVR (Rhodes Index of Nausea, Vomiting, and Retching) questionnaire. The results showed a significant reduction in nausea and vomiting levels after the intervention. This therapy improved patient comfort and contributed to better quality of life during chemotherapy. Swedish Foot Massage is a safe, effective, and low-cost non-pharmacological intervention that can be integrated into evidence-based nursing care for oncology patients.
