Abstract
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases in the elderly and has a high risk of complications, especially in the lower extremities. Decreased foot sensitivity and increased blood glucose levels are two major problems that are often encountered. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of family nursing care through the implementation of diabetic foot exercises in an effort to reduce blood glucose levels and increase foot sensitivity in elderly patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Grogol District, Depok City. The method used is a case study with a pre-post test approach without a control group. The study sample was elderly people who met the inclusion criteria and the intervention was carried out for four three with a frequency of three sessions per week. The results showed a significant decrease in fasting blood glucose levels and an increase in foot sensitivity based on the monofilament test after the intervention. The implementation of diabetic foot exercises has been proven to be an important component of family nursing care to improve the quality of life of elderly people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It was concluded that family involvement and non-pharmacological interventions such as foot exercises can have a positive impact on holistic diabetes management.
