Abstract

Hernia Nucleus Pulposus (HNP) is one of the common causes of lower back pain in the elderly, often leading to limited mobility and reduced quality of life. This paper aims to provide nursing care for families of patients with HNP. Method: This research employs a case study approach related to nursing care for patients with HNP. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and document studies. The author identified two diagnoses: ineffective health management related to the family’s inability to care for a family member, and risk of falls associated with the family’s inability to care for the sick family member. These issues were addressed through proper family caregiving approaches and non-pharmacological interventions. The case of Mrs. J demonstrates that managing HNP in the elderly can be effectively addressed through treatments such as McKenzie Exercises and appropriate family support.
