Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition of increased blood pressure ≥140/90 mmHg which can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Acute pain complaints in hypertensive patients can worsen blood pressure and require optimal treatment. blood pressure so that it requires optimal handling. Objective: Describe nursing care for patients with hypertension patient with the main problem of acute pain at Panglima Besar Soedirman National Hospital. Research Methods: The method used is a case study with qualitative descriptive approach. Nursing interventions involve a combination of pharmacologic therapy and guided imagery as a complementary therapy. Research results: The nursing problems that arise in this case are acute pain related to physiological injury agents, disturbed sleep patterns related to with physiological injuring agents, disturbed sleep patterns related to environmental barriers (noise), and knowledge deficits related to lack of exposure to information. information. After intervention for 3×24 hours, pain scale decreased from 6 to 2 and blood pressure from 145/103 mmHg to 122/82 mmHg. The patient's sleep quality and understanding also improved. Conclusion: Guided imagery as complementary therapy in hypertensive patients with acute pain in the case study this case study contributed to a decrease in pain, blood pressure, as well as improvement in sleep and understandin and patient comprehension.
