Abstract
Inappropriate parenting patterns and the rapidly increasing use of gadgets in preschool children can potentially affect social-emotional issues such as difficulty interacting and aggressive behavior. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parenting patterns and gadget use with the social-emotional development of preschool children at TKIT Raflesia. This research uses quantitative methods with a correlational analytical research type and uses a cross sectional design. In November 2024, 68 parents were selected as respondents using total sampling to participate in this research. The instruments used were Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire-Short Version (PSDQ), gadget use, and The Pediatric Symptom Checklist 17 (PSC-17). Based on the results of the Spearman test regarding parenting patterns for people with social-emotional development, a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a correlation coefficient of 0.464 were obtained, while the use of gadgets with social-emotional development obtained a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, and a correlation coefficient of 0.847. The results show that there is a fairly strong and positive relationship between parenting styles and gadget use and the social-emotional development of preschool children. Parents are expected to monitor their children's social-emotional growth, implement a gadget usage schedule, and implement wiser parenting patterns.
