Abstract
Indonesia has extraordinary zakat potential and has a broad influence on the economy if its zakat distribution is managed optimally. However, in reality, the governance of zakat distribution is still not optimal and is still a major problem in the governance of zakat institutions. This is because zakat institutions do not fully understand or have not implemented the principles of the Zakat Core Principles (ZCP). This study aims to examine the application of the ZCP principles in the management of zakat distribution, especially at LAZ Al Azhar. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a case study approach and content analysis techniques. Primary data sources were obtained through interviews with related parties, observation, and documentation, while secondary data came from the official website, books, journals, and company profile of LAZ Al Azhar. The results of this study indicate that LAZ Al Azhar has implemented all ZCP 10 criteria, including transparency, accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness in the governance of zakat distribution, as well as good supervision, so as to support the achievement of zakat goals optimally. The implementation of ZCP 10 is an important aspect for zakat governance to be carried out in various OPZs in Indonesia.
