Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels beyond normal limits because the body cannot produce insulin effectively or the body cannot use the insulin produced effectively. Risk factors for diabetes mellitus are age, physical activity, blood pressure, stress, lifestyle, genetics, cholesterol and obesity. Diabetes, if not treated properly, can cause complications. Objective: Gain insight and real experience in implementing nursing care for diabetes mellitus patients with problems with sleep patterns in the inpatient ward of Pasar Rebo District Hospital which is carried out using nursing care including assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing intervention, nursing implementation and nursing evaluation. Method: This research uses a case study method which uses descriptive analysis in carrying out nursing care for diabetes mellitus patients with sleep pattern problems in the inpatient room at Pasar Rebo Hospital. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observation, physical examination and documentation methods. Results: The nursing problems found in this case were acute pain related to physiological injurious agents, instability of blood glucose levels related to insulin retention and disturbed sleep patterns related to lack of sleep control. Conclusion: It is hoped that further research will be able to implement nursing care for clients with diabetes mellitus better in order to obtain the intended results in accordance with the nursing problems experienced by the client.
