Abstract
In 2023, there were a total of 864 fire disaster incidents in Jakarta, with 223 of them occurring in East Jakarta. Knowledge was identified as the primary key to enhancing fire disaster emergency response efforts. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in fire disaster knowledge levels before and after intervention using snake ladder and video media among students at X High School. The research employed a Pre-Experimental method with a Randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 180 individuals selected through Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Research instruments included a 14-item valid fire disaster knowledge questionnaire, educational interventions using snake ladder media, and video. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test. The analysis revealed significant changes with snake ladder media, showing a p-value of 0.00, p-value<0.05. Similarly, significant changes were observed with video media, yielding a p-value of 0.00, p-value< 0.05. Comparative analysis of knowledge levels between snake ladder and video media showed a p-value of 0.00, p-value<0.05. In conclusion, the study found a difference in fire disaster knowledge levels between snake ladder and video media, with video media proving more effective in enhancing student knowledge.
