Abstract

The absence of disaster and preparedness education in schools has an effect on school-age children's views regarding readiness. When school-age children engage in more catastrophe preparation programs, their resilience will increase. Resilient children are able to actively adapt to the challenges and setbacks they experience in accordance with their developmental stages. The purpose of this study was to ascertain whether opinions toward resilience in the event of disasters and the preparedness of school-age children are related. This study used cross-sectional, quantitative methods and sampled 120 students utilizing the quota sampling method. The knowledge of school-age children and their capacity to recover from disasters did not correlate, according to the data analysis (p-value 0.213). Nonetheless, there was a significant relationship (p-value 0.001) between school age children's preparation mindset and their resilience in the face of disasters. Thus, whereas school-age children's ready attitude and resilience in the face of catastrophes are correlated, their comprehension of resilience in the face of disasters is not. The study's findings are intended to be used as a future reference in the field of disaster nursing for school-age children's readiness and resilience to disasters.
