Abstract
The southern and eastern parts of Indonesia have the risk of being a volcanic belt that stretches across the islands of Sumatra, Java, Nusa Tenggara, and Sulawesi, bordered by old volcanic mountains and lowlands so that these conditions are potentially prone to disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, and landslides. Earthquakes are frequent disasters in Indonesia that can cause various kinds of damage such as the environment, damaged buildings, and the many victims who experience these impacts. One of the vulnerable groups that become victims of earthquakes is students in the school environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of first aid training on earthquake disaster preparedness in PMR members at SMP Negeri 1 Cibadak Lebak Banten. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quick experimental design of one group pretest and posttest. The sampling technique used was total sampling or saturated sample with 34 respondents. Data collection was carried out by providing interventions in the form of first aid training for 3 consecutive days with different learning methods, namely: material counseling using the lecture method, demonstration and re-demonstration, and disaster simulation. The analysis used was a Paired Sample T-test. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of first aid training on earthquake disaster preparedness in PMR members at SMP Negeri 1 Cibadak with a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05). So the conclusion of this study is that first aid training can affect the level of earthquake disaster preparedness in PMR members at SMP Negeri 1 Cibadak.
