Abstract

Background: Malnutrition in toddlers can result in stunting, which is failure to grow. Providing Local Supplemental Food is the Depok City Government's strategy to eliminate stunting (zero new stunting). Provision of local supplementary food must be accompanied by health education to increase participation of parents of toddlers in the Local Supplemental Feeding Program. Purpose: To know relationship between health education and parental participation in the Local Supplemental Feeding program to prevent stunting in Sawangan District. Method: Using a retrospective design with a cross-sectional using a chi-square test. The sampling technique used stratified random sampling on 192 respondents. The instruments used were a health education history questionnaire and a parent participation questionnaire. Result: The result of this research obtained a p-value of 0.000. Health education has 8.263 times opportunity to influence parent participation. Conclusion: This research shows that there is a relationship between the history of health education received by parents and parental participation in the Local Supplementary Feeding. Suggestion: It is hoped that this research can encourage future researchers to develop similar research by conducting direct interventions during the Local Supplementary Feeding Program and linking respondent characteristics such as age, education, employment, and number of children with participation variables in the Local Supplementary Feeding Program.
