The researcher used in this research a phenomelogical approach. The researcher used a constructivist-interpretative paradigm. Using the theory of Symbolic Interactionism, data collection was carried out through interviews, literature studies and documentation. The results of this research show that interactions between parents who work and have children with special needs are greatly influenced by the context of their respective families and it was found that the nonverbal communication used varies, such as sign language, gestures and pictures. Nonverbal communication used by parents and children with special needs is very helpful in knowing the child's desires.
