Abstract
The use of virtual communication media is the only solution to be able to continue communicating and carrying out activities with a reliable platform during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Organizations in the music sector experienced major influences from the COVID-19 pandemic regulations, the choice of virtual communication media in carrying out UBV Jakarta work programs and LM Pervagatus using virtual communication platforms. This change in the use of communication media is the reason researchers conducted this research to find out how virtual communication media is used in organizational activities in the music sector and how interested members are in participating in the organization's activities. This research uses a qualitative method, namely research that analyzes data in the form of words or spoken words from interview texts and documentary observation as a data collection method. Interviews were conducted in depth with several BPHs in the 2 music UKMs who had an interest in this research topic. This research utilizes Marshall McLuhan's Technological Determination theory which covers the development of communication technology which is linked to students' interest in using it. Through analysis of the interview text from the themes and categories determined by the researcher as well as the documentation obtained, it was found that there were obstacles, lack of effectiveness and motivation among members of the organization, which led to a lack of interest among organizational students in organizational and musical activities using virtual communication technology within it. The use of technology was indeed very beneficial during the Covid-19 pandemic to continue to be able to carry out organizational activities, however behind the change in communication media, members felt more interested in carrying out face-to-face activities considering the effectiveness and technical comfort in organizing and making music in the 2 music UKMs.
