Abstract
This study aims to determine the public sentiment on the hoax news of the 2024 election presidential candidate on TikTok social media and to determine its impact on the vote acquisition of presidential candidates. The research method used in this research is mixed methods with data collection techniques in the form of data crawling, in-depth interviews, and literature studies. The theoretical framework used is sentiment analysis theory and political participation theory with the Social Media Political Participation Model (SMPPM). The results show that the rise of hoax news is closely related to the post-truth era, where there are two supporting factors, namely the community factor and the media factor. This is also related to the dominance of negative sentiment towards the hoax news of the 2024 election presidential candidates. In addition, the results of this study also concluded that public sentiment on the hoax news of the 2024 election presidential candidates could have an impact on the final results of the votes obtained. However, there are other factors that can also have an impact on the vote acquisition of presidential candidates.
