Abstract
This research aims to determine whether modern political campaign practices carried out by the Nasdem Party can have an impact on increasing electability in the 2019 legislative elections. The emergence of modern politics and social media has changed the political campaign process, starting from relying on face-to-face contact, spending on national television advertising to convey messages, to the widespread use of social media in election campaigns. This research examines whether the Nasdem Party implemented modern campaign practices in its political campaign process in the 2019 General Election and how modern campaign practices were carried out using qualitative research methods with primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques were interviews and literature studies in the form of books, news and previous research journals that were relevant to this research. There is a suitability of the strategy carried out by the Nasdem Party with the Model of Modern Campaign Theory, Swanson Mancini and Michael D. Cohen in carrying out modern campaign practices. The research results show that the political campaign practices carried out by the Nasdem Party actively utilize the media as a form of modern political campaign model which has been explained by Michael D. Cohen and Swanson Mancini. The use of various media in campaigning aims to increase the electability of the Nasdem Party in the 2019 legislative general elections. The Nasdem Party is one of the parties that massively uses conventional media in spreading their vision and mission.
