Abstract

Objective : The adoption of an electronic medical record system is now obligatory across all healthcare facilities, and although there are numerous implications, the researchers assert that the analysis conducted in this study holds significant relevance in comprehending the repercussions of implementing such a system. This is particularly crucial in the context of fostering effective communication between doctors and patients. The primary objective of this research is to discern the impact of employing an electronic medical record system on the quality of communication between doctors and patients within the outpatient clinic of Budhi Asih Regional General Hospital. Method : This research is a type of quantitative research with a descriptive analytical approach, using a cross-sectional method with questionnaires and quota sampling techniques. The test method applied is the chi-square test. Result : According to the study findings, there is a correlation between doctors' usage of electronic medical records and successful patient-doctor communication, with a value of p= 0.022 (p<0.05). Effective communication between doctors and patients and the usage of an electronic medical record system are related, according to patients, as indicated by the univariate results, which have a value of p= 0.001 (p<0.05). Effective communication between physicians and patients and the usage of an electronic medical record system are related, according to the findings of the chi-square test analysis in both tables. Conclusion : This study demonstrates the influence of employing an electronic medical record system on the quality of communication between healthcare professionals and patients.
