Abstract
Disability is a term which defines any physical interferences or injuries suffered by people. The limitation it imposes causes its bearers to be dependent to others in doing daily activity, either in the society or in an office/working environment. Depressions is one of numerous factors which influence people with disability’s dependency. This study aims to understand whether or not depressions levels and activity daily living dependency among physically disabled TNI personnel in rehabilitation center of ministry of defense are interconnected. This is an analytic observational study with cross-sectional approach which used Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) to measure depression and Functional Independence Measure (FIM) to measure activity daily living. There were 62 participants in this study. Analysis using Chi-Square test revealed that those two variables have statistically significant correlation (p=0.000). It can be concluded that depressions levels and activity daily living dependency among physically disabled TNI personnel are related, and therefore, rehabilitation center of ministry of defense is strongly advised to arrange some concentration-enhancing sports, such as shooting, to deal with depression. It is also recommended for the physically disabled personnel to improve the physical exercise in order not to be classified as medium-dependency.
