Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood where adolescents experience changes in growth and development, one of which is emotional changes. Emotional development in adolescence shows a very strong sensitive and reactive nature that will cause negative emotions if left unchecked. However, if teenagers are able to control their emotions well, it will be useful for teenagers. Adolescents' ability to control their emotions is an indicator of their emotional intelligence. This study aims to determine the description of adolescent emotional intelligence in distance learning. This type of research is descriptive survey. The population of this study was 200 people with a total sample of 67 respondents taken by simple random sampling technique. Data collection on emotional intelligence in adolescents uses an emotional intelligence scale. The results showed that from 67 respondents there were 36 teenagers who had a high level of emotional intelligence with an age range of 14-17 years and was dominated by 41 women. Adolescents can improve and maintain good emotional intelligence. Nurses can provide education related to emotional intelligence, families can help adolescents in completing their developmental tasks well.
