Abstract

Electric cigarettes are a form of modification of conventional cigarettes into electric cigarettes, a renewal of the type of cigarette that converts liquid into steam. Student vape usage behavior is often encountered in various campus environments. According to data from Riskesdas (2018), West Java Regency is the highest province with the number of cigarette use, has increased from 27% to 36.3%, then Indonesia, especially West Java, has the highest provincial position with cigarette users at 32.0%. This study uses cross sectional with quantitative research using Chi Square for univariate and bivariate variables. The results of the bivariate analysis in this study are the variables related to age electric use behavior (p-value = 0,000) and vape user motivation behavior (p-value = 0.039) p-value variable is smaller than alpha value and vape use behavior with vape use in Mechanical Engineering students at the Veteran National Development University of Jakarta. While the unrelated variables are gender (p-value = 1,000), monthly allowance (p-value = 0.142), knowledge (p-value = 0.135), family support (p-value = 0.341), friend support (p -value = 0.808), and non-smoking area regulations (K-value) (p-value = 0.555) where the p-value variable is greater than the alpha value so that it is found there is a relationship between gender, monthly money, assistance, family support, support friends and regulations on non-smoking areas with the topic of electrical use in Mechanical Engineering students at the National Veterans Development University of Jakarta. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between age and attitudes toward the behavior of e-cigarette users so that motivation and references are needed in reducing the number of e-cigarettes consumed and if it is better if a student can stop e-smoking.
