Abstract

General election was and always a crucial part of democracy, for through general election, a fundamental concept of democracy, which at its basest form were a government, of the People, By the people, and for the people were being tested. Naturally, election was not constrained on its most pinnacle scope, in this case national scope. History may teach us, that on its lower scope, which is on a regional scope, the impact of said election was at best or worse, more perceptible on every level of society. And to that end, this research was constructed with the main focus on a strategy of a certain politician to win a seat on a Regional House of Representative, to be exact, the seat of Jakarta’s Regional House of Representative. Using a qualitative-descriptive as a means to enable this research, and by doing focused interviews to collect first-hand data from the experienced party. And of course, by employing Peter Schroder’s Theory of Political Strategy as a means to understand the fact and phenomenon this research has to yield. The outcome of this research was that a certain victory was not secured by only using half-measure means. A web of factor and variable were interconnected, said factor and variable were not only that comes from within the politicians itself, but also that comes from outside. And of course, as always, a good and experienced politician owes his success to his ingenious maneuvering of his political terrain, which would be a wise thing to do to conserve said politician’s finite resources in order to gain maximum outcome.
