Abstract

This study discusses optimizing the role of the UPN 'Veteran' Jakarta PPKPT Task Force in protecting students undergoing internships from sexual violence. The focus of this study is on the effectiveness and efforts to optimize the role of the UPN 'Veteran' Jakarta PPKPT Task Force in preventing and handling sexual violence in internships, with the aim of contributing to strengthening the student protection system and developing more effective sexual violence prevention strategies. This study uses a normative juridical method through a legislative and case-based approach, supported by data from direct interviews with the UPN 'Veteran' Jakarta PPKPT Task Force as supporting data. The results indicate that the UPN 'Veteran' Jakarta PPKPT Task Force currently faces significant obstacles, such as limited budget allocation, lack of training for its members, and challenges in handling cases involving external parties at internships due to imbalanced power relations. Recommended optimization strategies include strengthening internal and external aspects. Internally, the Task Force needs to be supported by a competent handling team, provide outreach and education through pre-internship training and operational budget support, and ensure smooth coordination with relevant parties. Externally, clear preventive regulations are needed from the outset, including a clear legal protection clause in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the campus and the internship institution, as well as the active involvement of local HR departments to ensure student safety from sexual violence without compromising their academic rights.
