Abstract

Kayo Printing, a textile printing company, continues to experience a high rate of defective products during the fabric printing process. From January to December 2025, a total of 1,502.4 yards of defective products were recorded, with several months exceeding the company's maximum defect tolerance of 2.5%. The dominant defects were line defects, misaligned printing, and incorrect temperature settings. This study aims to identify the dominant defects, analyze their root causes, develop improvement proposals, and evaluate the effectiveness of quality control implementation. The research employed the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) approach. The Define phase utilized Critical to Quality and SIPOC, the Measure phase applied Pareto Chart, P-Chart, DPMO, and Sigma Level, the Analyze phase employed Fault Tree Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis , the Improve phase used the 5W1H approach, and the Control phase evaluated the implementation results. The findings indicate that the average DPMO decreased from 2,520.09 to 992.45, while the Sigma Level increased from 4.3387 to 4.6370 after implementation. These improvements demonstrate that the DMAIC approach effectively reduced product defects and enhanced the process capability at Kayo Printing.
