Abstract

Family conflict is a phenomenon of interactional tension arising from misaligned perceptions, needs, or communication patterns among family members. This study aims to analyze how family communication conflict is represented in the film "Bolehkah Sekali Saja Kumenangis." The research utilizes relational dialectics theory and a descriptive qualitative method, applying Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic analysis to dissect the types of tensions occurring within the family. Data collection was conducted through non-participant observation, literature study, and documentation to obtain both primary and secondary data. The analysis focuses on eleven selected scenes, examining verbal and non-verbal signs such as dialogue, body gestures, and facial expressions that represent family communication conflict. The results show that the depiction of conflict varies for each character: the father through dominance and coercion, the mother through silence and self-sacrifice, and Tari through suppressed emotional wounds. In conclusion, this study finds that creating peace and harmony requires awareness from every family member to break away from bad communication and to cultivate an inner willingness to change for the better
