Abstract
The development of social media in the digital era has transformed the pattern of political participation in society, particularly among Generation Z, who have a strong connection with digital technology. Social media is not only used as a communication tool but also functions as a digital public space for expressing aspirations, opinions, and criticism regarding various social issues and government policies. One phenomenon emerging on the X platform is the use of the hashtag #KaburAjaDulu, which has been widely used by Generation Z as a response to social, economic, and development policy conditions under the Prabowo–Gibran administration. This study aims to analyze Generation Z's forms of protest through the #KaburAjaDulu phenomenon and identify the factors encouraging the use of the hashtag as a form of digital political participation. This study employed a qualitative method with a netnographic approach. Data were collected through observations of conversations on social media X and in-depth interviews with six purposively selected informants. The findings show that the #KaburAjaDulu phenomenon is not merely a social media trend but also a form of digital political participation among Generation Z. The forms of protest are expressed through opinions, criticism, satire, memes, comments, and information sharing on social media. Factors encouraging the use of the hashtag include difficulties in obtaining employment, rising living costs, economic uncertainty, and concerns about the future. This study also demonstrates that social media functions as a digital public sphere that enables Generation Z to build collective awareness and express aspirations regarding government policies.
