Abstract
Generation Z students are generation that has grown up in digital era with high levels of electronic device usage, which has the potential to generate electronic waste. A preliminary study shows that 9 out of 10 students in East Jakarta still keep broken electronic devices at home or disposed them with household trash. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with e-waste management behavior among Generation Z students in East Jakarta in 2026. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design conducted from May to June 2026. The sample consisted of 110 respondents selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test. The results showed that 58 respondents (52.7%) exhibited poor e-waste management behavior. Bivariate analysis showed that attitude (p=0.003), accessibility of facilities (p<0.001), access to information (p=0.015), peer support (p=0.008), and family support (p<0.001) were associated with e-waste management behavior, while knowledge (p=0.852) was not associated. Universities and local governments are expected to improve students access to e-waste collection facilities, such as dropboxes or collection points in accessible locations, and strengthen the dissemination of information on e-waste management.
