Abstract
Exclusive breastfeeding is defined as the practice of feeding an infant only breast milk from birth until six months of age, without any additional food or beverages. This practice is a key indicator in improving the health of mothers and children. The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia remains below the established national target of 80%. This situation may be influenced by various determinants, including economic, social, and environmental factors. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the association between household environmental conditions and CTPS practices with exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia using data from the 2023 Indonesia Health Survey. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional study design and was conducted in May–June 2026. The study sample consisted of 2,394 respondents selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) data. Chi-square tests and binary logistic regression were performed for data analysis. The results of the study indicate that the availability of handwashing facilities (p=0.019) is significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding. Meanwhile, exposure to secondhand smoke indoors (p=0.182), the physical quality of drinking water (p=0.419), and CTPS practices (p=0.515) are not associated with exclusive breastfeeding. There is a need to improve the implementation of a clean and healthy home environment to optimize exclusive breastfeeding.
