Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis remains a major public health issue requiring attention. In the Ciracas Community Health Center service area, pulmonary TB cases increased from 176 in 2023 to 294 in 2025. This study aimed to determine the association between individual and environmental factors and pulmonary TB incidence in East Jakarta in 2026. A case-control design was used, involving 30 cases and 60 controls selected through simple random sampling. Individual characteristics were collected using questionnaires, while environmental conditions were measured using a particle counter for temperature and humidity, a lux meter for lighting, and a measuring tape for ventilation area. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and multiple logistic regression. Lighting was the factor most strongly associated with pulmonary TB incidence (aOR=4.719; 95% CI: 1.316–22.649), after adjustment for smoking habits (aOR=4.095; 95% CI: 1.100–15.243) and ventilation area (aOR=3.328; 95% CI: 1.100–10.073). Community health centers should intensify health promotion to encourage window-opening habits and reduce dark indoor conditions to lower pulmonary TB transmission risk.
