Abstract
This study analyzes the effect of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Program Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG), as assessed by the public, on public trust in the Prabowo-Gibran Administration in West Java. It employs Edwards III's policy implementation theory and Grimmelikhuijsen and Knies' public trust theory as the analytical framework. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through a survey distributed to 129 respondents in West Java who were aware of the MBG Program, using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The results show that public assessment of the MBG Program's implementation generally falls into the low-to-moderate category, particularly in the dimensions of resources, implementer disposition, and bureaucratic structure, while the communication dimension was relatively better, although information consistency remained low. Consistent with this, public trust in the Prabowo-Gibran Administration was also low across all dimensions, namely competence, benevolence, and integrity. The regression analysis yielded the equation Y = -6.164 + 1.057X, with a calculated t-value of 22.777, greater than the t-table value of 1.979, and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.803 indicates that 80.3% of the variation in public trust is explained by public assessment of the MBG Program's implementation, while the remaining 19.7% is influenced by other factors. Therefore, the still-low public assessment of the program's implementation contributes to the low level of public trust in West Java.
