Abstract
The high intensity of solar radiation in Indonesia, as a tropical region, drives significant public need for skin protection products, particularly sunscreen. Oily skin is the most prevalent condition among Indonesia's urban population and requires a more careful product selection approach, while the abundance of sunscreen products on the market often makes it difficult for consumers to choose one suited to their skin. This research develops a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) combining Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to produce more reliable, consistent recommendations. Seven criteria, namely SPF and PA, active ingredients, sunscreen category, texture, protection duration, BPOM and Halal legality, and volume, were validated by a Dermatologist and Venereologist, with weights personalized across four oily skin severity categories (K1 to K4) identified via questionnaire. The system was built using the Laravel framework integrated with a MySQL database. Combined SAW and TOPSIS results show that the best alternative differs by skin category, with Scarlett Whitening Ultra Light Daily Sunscreen Moisturizing (A5) leading for K1 and K2 (0.7709 and 0.7615), while Skintific Matte Fit Serum Sunscreen (A8) leads for K3 and K4 (0.8083 and 0.7966), consistent with the Texture criterion's growing weight for oilier skin. CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen SPF 30+ (A1) consistently ranks last due to its lowest SPF and PA value. System rankings align with manual calculations, and black-box testing confirms all functions work as required. These findings confirm the value of category-based weight personalization, positioning the system as an effective decision-making tool for oily skin users.
