Abstract

Labor productivity is one of the important economic indicators, reflecting the level of efficiency and the quality of human resources in the production process, as well as demonstrating the utilization of various inputs in production activities. East Kalimantan Province exhibits a relatively high level of labor productivity, ranking second among provinces in Indonesia. This condition is supported by adequate infrastructure development. The objective of this study to analyze the effects of transportation infrastructure, electricity infrastructure, sanitation infrastructure, and human capital, as well as the moderating role of human capital on the relationship between transportation infrastructure and labor productivity in East Kalimantan Province. This study employs a panel data regression method, with the REM selected as the best estimation method, covering the period from 2015 to 2024. The results of study indicate that (1) transportation infrastructure has a significant negative effect on labor productivity; (2) electricity infrastructure has a positive but insignificant effect on labor productivity; (3) sanitation infrastructure has a negative insignificant effect on labor productivity; (4) human capital has a significant negative effect on labor productivity; and (5) human capital moderates the effect of transportation infrastructure on labor productivity, resulting in a significant positive effect on labor productivity.
