Abstract
This research goals is to analyse the phenomenon of critical speed shaft with distance of disc with 1 kg on a 60 cm long shaft and 2 material variation such as stainless steel and aluminium alloy 6061. Experiment and simulation was done in this study. Simulation used to obtain the value that can’t be achieved in the Computer Controlled Critical Speed Investigation Unit which is stress that occurs because of critical speed at the natural frequency. The main focus of this study is to find the error between the experiment and simulation, the affects of material and disc distances to critical speed, and the stress when the systems occurs resonances. The results show that the more the disc gets near the support the bigger the natural frequency and the critical speed this because the closer the mass or the disc to the support it increases the stiffness of the system. The material that has lower modulus elasticity produce lower critical speed because of that the resonance occurs at lower rotation velocity. For the error all the errors are lower than 10%, with the highest error is the aluminium alloy with the distances of 30 cm from the left with the error amount is 9.68%. for the highest stress achieved by the stainless steel 20 cm which is 156,68 MPa.
