Abstract
Cesarean section is a surgical procedure to deliver a baby by making an incision in the abdominal wall and uterus. Surgical procedures often cause severe pain in some patients, even though effective analgesics have been administered. The pain felt after surgery originates from the incision area as well as uterine contractions as it returns to its normal size. Pain management is generally carried out using non-pharmacological therapies. One non-pharmacological approach to reduce pain levels is dhikr therapy. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of dhikr therapy on pain intensity in mothers post–cesarean section. The method used was a case study with the application of evidence-based nursing in two post-cesarean section patients. The results showed that after 3×24 hours of intervention, the pain score based on the numeric rating scale decreased from severe (7) to mild (3). Meanwhile, in the second patient, the intervention was also administered for 3×24 hours, and the moderate pain score of 6 decreased to a mild level, namely 2 (NRS). There was a decrease in pain levels in post-cesarean section patients after the administration of dhikr therapy.
